How will I know when I am ready to take the Official Test?
RVR prepares our learners to make sure they are prepared to test. RVR uses pre- and post-tests as part of the program to document a learner’s progress. RVR wants every learner to be ready before they spend the money to take the Official Test.
What is the Official Test?
The Test is made up of 5 sub-tests: writing skills, social studies, science, literature &the arts, and mathematics. The test takes up to10 hours, broken into two days of testing. Special testing arrangements available. Upon successful completion, the learner will receive a HSE diploma issued by the state of Indiana.
Where can I take the Official Test?
The Education Center of Rising Sun is an official test site. We currently use paper and/or computer testing.
What is the cost of the Official Test?
Testing fees are $144 for all five batteries.
Are there scholarships to help pay for theHSE test?
Yes. Students enrolled in RVR’s HSEDprogram may qualify for scholarships. Scholarships are based on financial need and astudent’s program performance.
Who can enroll in class?
Anyone 16 years of age or older who is officially withdrawn from high school can enroll in RVR’s HSED preparation program. All students must have an Indiana State ID.
Are you an Anthem HIP+Member of Indiana?
You may qualify for an HSED Testing Voucher to cover your testing fees. Members need to call to see if you qualify.866-408-6131 (TTY 711).

The Education Center of Rising Sun offers monthly boot camps to students who need to fast track their High School Equivalency Diploma.
This week long program encourages adults to commit to one week of intensive classwork and testing to obtain their HSED. The “bootcamp” is offered several times throughout the year. The classes are held at the Education Center of Rising Sun, in Rising Sun, Indiana. This program is available to any resident of Indiana who does not have their high school equivalency diploma (formerly known as GED).
